Natural
Natural diamonds are one of nature’s most extraordinary creations formed deep within the earth's mantle over billions of years. Composed almost entirely of carbon, these precious stones are created under intense heat and pressure more than 100 miles beneath the earth's surface. Over time, volcanic activity brings them closer to the surface, where they are mined today.
Each natural diamond is a unique product of geological time. It can take 1 to 3 billion years for a diamond to form. The immense pressure and heat cause carbon atoms to crystallise into the dazzling structure we recognise as a diamond making them the hardest known natural material on earth.
Today, most natural diamonds are sourced ethically under strict international standards. Leading diamond companies and jewellers commit to the Kimberley Process, which ensures that diamonds are conflict-free and responsibly mined.
